Naidex 2026 Preview: Arthur’s Engineering Guide to the NEC’s Biggest Mobility Tech
If you are an engineer or a powerchair user, Naidex isn’t just an event—it’s a performance benchmark. Taking place on 25th–26th March 2026 at the Birmingham NEC, it is the UK’s premier stage for accessibility innovation. But with over 200 exhibitors, it’s easy to get lost in the marketing “noise.”
I’ve spent the last decade analyzing how mobility aids evolve, and for 2026, the shift is moving away from “just mobility” and toward “intelligent independence.” Below is my technical preview of what I’ll be hunting for on the show floor—and why you should care.
1. The 2026 Carbon Fibre Revolution: Jazzy vs. The Field
The headline for 2026 is undoubtedly the refinement of Carbon Injection technology. We are moving past the era of heavy aluminium frames.
What I’m tracking: Pride Mobility is expected to showcase their latest carbon iterations. While carbon fibre is legendary for its strength-to-weight ratio, as an engineer, I’m looking for vibration dampening. A stiff frame is light, but without proper suspension, it can be a “bone-shaker.”

Bring Your Measurements: If you’re looking for a folding chair, bring the dimensions of your car boot. Don’t trust the brochure; measure the chair while it’s folded on the stand!
Ask about VAT: Remember, most of these products qualify for 20% VAT relief in the UK. Confirm with exhibitors if their “Show Special” prices include or exclude VAT.
Check the “User Calibration”: Ask every dealer if you can adjust the joystick sensitivity yourself or if it requires a £100 technician visit.
Look for the “Emergency Manual Override”: On every automatic folding chair, find the lever that lets you fold it if the electronics fail. If it’s too hard to reach, walk away.
Why This Matters for 2026
